Who Do You Like As ND QB?

So who do you like in the suddenly three-horse Notre Dame quarterback race?

Is it the young guy with the big-time prep rep, Jimmy Clausen?

Is it the older guy, if you can call Evan Sharpley old when he has all of two college passes to his name?

Or is it the best athlete, Demetrius Jones, who is the closet thing the Irish have to Troy Smith?

You have all summer to debate that because, as Charlie Weis has informed us, those three will go into August camp contending for the job Brady Quinn owned for four years.

One of those guys will lead an offense that just might be, at least at first, more run oriented than Weis prefers. We say might because, just because the Irish ran a lot in the spring, just because they’ll have a new quarterback and new offensive linemen, doesn’t mean the pass will be forgotten.

No, Weis is not a Wishbone, Power-I coach. Notre Dame will throw and, you suspect, will throw well. It’s just a matter of figuring out who will do it. For now fans, just like the players and coaches, will have to be patient.
